SUMMARY:Earthwalk Ways - Forest Therapy Guide Training
DESCRIPTION:Note: Classes are stated as Sat-Sunday by the organizer but the organizer states Fri-Sat on their site for this event. Please contact organizer for correct dates and times for this particular event. \nForest Therapy Guide Trainings  Offered Spring and Summer 2016.! \nDear Nature Lovers:\nHere is my spring into summer Forest Therapy Guide Trainings schedule for 2016 here at the Forest Therapy Institute near Fredericksburg\, Virginia. \nThis will be a 2 day training held at the Earthwalk Retreat. We will start at 9am Saturday and go through till 3pm Sunday.\nThe training will be both conceptual and experiential and will give participants what they need to create their own Forest Therapy experiences for others based on the sound principles that underlie the benefits of this practice.  The goal of the training is to impart the keys to maximizing intake of Vitamin N\, which is a metaphor for supporting the natural state that the forest invokes through sensory presence. \nA resource list will be provided where the science can be found both in terms of stress physiology\, heart coherence and Forest Therapy research.  Advanced specialty classes will hopefully spring up through many of you who might offer this to certain groups like children or the handicapped or elderly and your expertise in these areas could be offered to others as you put this into practice where you are called. \nAccommodations:   Overnight Tent camping is available and food will be provided.  Local people can commute but people are encouraged to let the experience deepen with a full nature immersion.  There are a few indoor sleeping spaces that can also be used. \nPrices:  $275.00 – 295.00  Some partial scholarships are available.\nThis cost includes: 14 classroom hours plus 1 follow up individual supervision session.  Depending on the student more than one supervision session may be desirable. \nIncludes 5 meals and 2 snacks starting with breakfast Saturday morning and ending with a late lunch Sunday afternoon.  Tents camp mats\, cots\, hammocks and nets\, etc for various comfortable sleeping options are provided.  If people have their own equipment there is $20 off.\n(indoor space will be a bit more depending on if it is shared space or private). \nDates:  2016\nApril 23-24\nMay 21-22\nJune 18-19 (I know it is Fathers day but it was the only June weekend I had.) Consider it as a Father’s Day Nature Retreat!  We will offer a class for families and fathers Sunday Afternoon.  You can attend the training and then celebrate with them. Fire Circle on Saturday Evening as well.  A great Fathers Day gift!\nJuly 15-16 \nEveryone is welcome to come Friday night late.\nBest times to travel here down the 95 corridor is late evening or very early morning \nIf you are interested please reply to Darlene Rollins:  Please email her atearthwalkways@gmail.com and include a phone contact.  Please indicate all the dates that are available that you could attend.  If you are interested but none of the dates are available for you\, please indicate your future interest via email.  Thanks\, Darlene  earthwalkways@gmail.com  540 752 5540  http://earthwalkways.com \n

SUMMARY:New England Nature & Forest Therapy - Acton Arboretum\, Acton\, MA
DESCRIPTION:1033 Forest Bathing – Shinrin Yoku\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPeel the layers of stress away and support healing by experiencing the medicine of the forest on this half-day nature connection retreat\nwith Certified Forest Therapy Guide\, Nadine Mazzola. Shinrin Yoku is a term that means taking in the forest atmosphere or forest\nbathing. It is unlike any nature walk you have experienced before. We focus on our senses to develop an immediate connection with\nthe forest. This is a very relaxed\, slow\, and mindful way of walking that has many proven health benefits. It’s fun\, easy and relaxing! We’ll\ndo a series of activities to engage our senses\, hone intuition and connect with the natural world around us. Over time we have started to\nlose our connection with nature as more technology creeps into our lives. Wash away some of the technology induced stress of modern life and reconnect to nature.\nThe walk will still be on if it’s raining\, unless it is a really big downpour or violent storm. If it is raining it’s important to have a waterproof shell including pants\, and many people bring umbrellas also. Rain often enhances sensory experience and makes for some of our most memorable walks.\nMaterials Needed: Please bring a snack or light lunch and water bottle\, or if the day is cold you might want to consider bringing a thermos with a hot drink. Wear comfortable clothing and good shoes for walking on easy trails & sunscreen/hat. If the weather is cool you should also dress to stay warm! I suggest you bring one more layer than you think you will need. SUMMARY:Strolls for Well-Being at Bloedel Reserve - Summer Session June 20th
DESCRIPTION:NOTE: The site is not clear on the duration of either the meetings or the walks so please contact the organizer or the venue for specific details. \nExperience the restorative powers of nature and join us for Strolls for Well-Being\, a free 10-week program offered at Bloedel Reserve. \nIf you’ve ever used nature to calm your mind or heart\, then you’ve experienced the underlying basis of the program. This self-guided tour uses the gardens of Bloedel as a place for inspiration and reflection. With a workbook in hand\, participants explore themes such as forgiveness\, gratitude and awareness. \nParticipants also take part in three check-in meetings\, overseen by the program’s creator. These loosely-structured meetings provided a time for people to share about their Strolls experiences and learn about the positive effect nature has on the human psyche. \nIMPORTANT:\nTo “graduate” from the program and receive an additional 3-month membership\, you must attend 2/3 check-in meetings. Past participants of Strolls for Well-Being say that the meetings are an imperative part of the process. \nThe meetings are at 10 a.m. on June 20\, July 21 and August 25. \nPLEASE NOTE: In order to allow the most participation in the Strolls program\, we ask that past participants not enroll again.
