“You didn’t come into this world.
You came out of it, like a wave from the ocean.
You are not a stranger here.”
Alan Watts
THE EXPERIENCE: Our next Shinrin Yoku walk is Saturday November 19th. Come immerse yourself amongst friends in this taster version of our longer walks. Simply being out in nature provides a healing, grounded and connective experience. The practice of Shinrin-Yoku or Forest Bathing fosters a deeper more intentional connection to our roots with nature and to ourselves.
Research that started in Japan and continues around the world including locally at places like Stanford continues to prove the direct relationship between time spent in nature and our health.
Just a few of the scientifically-proven benefits of Shinrin-yoku include:
***Boosted immune system functioning***
***Reduced blood pressure***
***Improved mood with reduced stress and cortisol levels***
***Increased energy levels and enhanced ability to focus***
***Improved sleep***
Opening our senses to nature also develops our intuition. We learn to connect in new ways to the world around us increasing our energy flow and our overall sense of happiness. Over the course of 2.5 hours you’ll experience a series of invitations allowing you to experience nature as you never have before. In between these invitations we’ll use the Way of Council for group interactions so we can learn from each other as we discuss what we are experiencing in connection with nature.
Feel free to bring a picnic lunch and spend extra time together in the embrace of the forest after our closing tea ceremony.
MEET YOUR GUIDE: Gregg has worked in healthcare as a paramedic and an RN from Florida to Alaska. With extensive training in wilderness medicine, he has traveled as far as Central America to be medical support for others in their enjoyment of nature. He brings his compassionate heart with his care for the natural world and the humans that inhabit it in combination with nearly 3 decades of leading people on wilderness explorations. He has been a sea kayak instructor around the country and beyond and has written extensively on the subject. He has been a naturalist and taught courses for Prescott College both in California and the Sea of Cortez, Mexico on marine ecology, leadership and mentoring. Gregg’s knowledge of health and healing gained from his years of working as a paramedic and an RN, mindfulness practices, wildlife rescue and meld with his training in Shinrin-Yoku to bring you an immersive sensorial experience in deep nature connection.
